Traditions!

 Traditions!

Traditions! What are yours?

I don’t know about you, but when I throw a party, or have an event, it’s about sharing what I love and showing my guests how much they mean to me. Making them happy makes me happy.

You know how traditions start, right? Somebody does something, and then, for whatever reason, another person does it, and then it starts taking on momentum.

Before you know it, the “Roast Syndrome” sets in.

What’s the “Roast Syndrome”?

A boy was helping with the cooking for the holiday meal. He watched his Dad cut off a good 2” chunk off of the roast and put it aside.

“Why did you do that?” the boy asked, puzzled. “Well, that’s how Grandma always did it,” his Dad answered said. “But why did SHE do it?,” the boy asked. “That’s a great question! Let me give her a call right now and find out why.” So the man called his Mom.

His Mom answered that she did it because her roasting pan was very small so it could fit in the tiny oven they had in their first home. Otherwise, the roast didn’t fit!

Lesson learned. Nowadays I need to know why it’s a tradition.

Your Traditions

Sometimes it’s what we eat–for example, what is the dish that your family traditionally eats to bring luck for the New Year? Ours was stuffed cabbage, here in the U.S. South, Hoppin’ John is a thing,

Soba Noodles are ‘it’ in Japan, and carp or other fish in many countries.

Some traditions are all about the kind of clothing you wear (or don’t wear, for that matter!) for special celebrations.

Maybe it’s the way you were taught to speak to your elders, a special way to address them to show your respect. For example, ‘Ma’am’ and ‘Sir’ in the Southeastern U.S.  are ostensibly an indication that you come from a good family.

Some of the ways we’ve incorporated our clients’ traditions into their events is by taking a good, thorough look at what matters to you and your people. Sometimes it’s all about making every. single. element. unique. We can do that. It might be about giving your guests a special message, like when Cirque du Soleil hired us give  their VIP opening night guests Lip Print Analysis and add a brief message that they would “find the rest of their destiny under the Big Top!”

There are so many beautiful touches you can add to your event to make it about YOU. How about sharing fortune cookies that not only  give your guests the fortune you chose for them,  but also thank them for coming?!

Chattahoochee Nature Center & Weddings

Chattahoochee Nature Center & Weddings

What does the Chattahoochee Nature Center have to do with weddings? Many couples choose the ‘Center’ because of it is so close to nature and such a beautiful place.

Others choose it because of the freedom they get to make their wedding about them. The Center lets you bring your own vendors! That, along with its reasonable prices, make it hard to pass up. For other couples, it’s the warm, welcoming, and incredibly diverse staff that make the Center so special.

It’s hard to believe that you smack dab in the heart of Roswell–the birds, trees, flowers always make me feel like I’ve landed on a magical oasis.

Between the restaurants, galleries, shops, music, and theater in the downtown square, your guests might be hard-pressed to want to go to downtown Atlanta.

The Chattahoochee Nature Center is an amazing environment to host just about any kind of event–Mitzvahs, birthdays, anniversaries, corporate retreats. It is truly a venue that lets you do you.

We love the fact that we’re able to interact with people in a safe environment. Add our Contact-Free Entertainer Booth to your next event if you want to see some people swooning with joy!

Lip Print with Pop-Up Pop out printed on it

What is a ‘Pop Up’ ?

What is a Pop Up?

What is a Pop-Up and why do you need to know?

A Pop-Up is a simple name for an event that is unexpected, of short duration, a surprise, uses an unusual space as a venue, or any combination of the above.

What’s the difference between a Pop-Up and a traditional event?

In essence, a pop-up is your rowdy teenager (novel, fun, rule breaker) and a traditional event, a Thanksgiving Dinner (you know what to expect, when to expect it, and you have a good idea of who’ll be there and what they’ll be doing and wearing.)

Why create a pop-up?

Could it be about novelty? Or better yet, surprise, intrigue, fun, or uniqueness? Show off your space, the activity, or even the exclusivity of the event. Looking to drive sales, donations, or build your client base quickly? Host a Pop-Up!

What are some examples of Pop-Ups?

Flash mobs, temporary Halloween stores, holiday markets are all versions of pop-ups.

Spread your party out by doing pop-ups—instead of one big bash where everybody feels overwhelmed, break it up into several small segments, mixing and remixing guests and elements—switching them out.

Or use a pop-up to showcase a new space, product, equipment, or way of doing things. Better yet, turn your pop-up into a road trip with dedicated vehicles that transport attendees from one unexpected stop to the next. Want to take it a step further? Deck out each bus with it’s own ‘costume’—decor + entertainer!

What kinds of entertainment do you want?

A Concessional Booth, (similar to our Contact-Free Entertainer Booth) is the perfect place to a) tell your story to someone who’ll listen; b) get unqualified, but heartfelt advice; grab a little nosh on the side.

Great for holiday parties (Halloween!), corporate events, wedding receptions, family reunions, retail events, new business launches, openings, or just a way to see your people, have you a blast and stay safe!
